Reading Past my Bedtime

I was up way past my bedtime last night finishing an advance reader copy of Saints for All Occasions, a novel by J. Courtney Sullivan which will be on sale May 9, 2017. I confess, I stayed up past my bedtime reading this book the night before last, too. And was reading it at breakfast yesterday morning. And have been reading it while brushing my teeth in the morning and before bed, too. In other words, I loved the book and found myself reading it whenever I had a free moment.
The novel spans several decades and two countries – Ireland and America. It’s a story about family, about sisters, about secrets, about love and loss and so much more. I liked Sullivan’s tight prose and how she moved seamlessly through time. This book kept me guessing of how things were going to turn out all the way to the end. I loved it!
Full disclosure – I’m not sure I need to say this but I will anyway – I work at a bookstore (Content Bookstore in Northfield) and I was given a galley copy of this book by our Random House representative who thought I might like it. He was right – I did.
That said, had I found the book at my local bookstore or library or found an ARC copy in a pile of galleys, I think I would have been drawn to reading Saints for All Occasions based on reading the book’s description.
