Books for Spring Break

Three books to read

My daughter, Rose, and I are heading to Chicago early tomorrow morning for a mother/daughter mini-break. We’re going to visit a couple of colleges, see some sights, shop a bit and enjoy some good food. Also on the agenda is plenty of writing and reading time – hopefully accompanied by a good coffee or cup of tea!

I always bring a book or two with me when I travel and this trip is no exception. I am packing three books for this trip:

  • Life from Scratch: a memoir of food, family, and forgiveness by Sasha Martin
  • How to Relax by Thich Nhat Hanh
  • The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende

I might not even finish one of the books but I like to have options so packed three to choose from! Why these three books? Well, I have already started Life from Scratch (and have been enjoying it!) so it’s likely I’ll start off reading it! I picked it up because someone recommended it – and it’s about food and includes recipes. I’ve already found a recipe or two that I want to try! I do not know much about The Japanese Lover but customers have been coming in asking for it at Content Bookstore so I figure it must be good. That and the description of the book looks intriguing and I thought it would be wise to pack a novel to compliment the memoir. So I’ll give it a go. As for How to Relax, well, relaxing is something I want to do more of so I picked up this little book to help me learn more about how to do so. I need all the help I can get!

I’ll let you know what I think of the books when I finish them.

What book or books have you read lately that you really like?
