A poem a day in April
A friend of mine, poet and writer Leslie Schultz, has been posting a new poem to her Winona Media blog every day this month. I’ve been reading many of the poems but didn’t know exactly why Leslie was writing a poem each day. I simply figured she came up with a clever 30 days of poetry challenge for herself but after going back and reading Leslie’s April 1st post, I discovered that Leslie is doing the NaPoWriMo, aka National Poetry Writing Month, challenge.
The challenge offers prompts to help people write 30 poems in 30 days. Poets can list their websites on the NaPoWriMo page. If you want to read tons and tons of poetry visit the NaPoWriMo page – or just hop on over to Leslie’s website and read the poems she’s written.
On a related note, many of Leslie’s poems have been published in a new book – Still Life with Poppies: Elegies. Leslie will be reading from her new book next week at Content Bookstore in Northfield. The event happens on Thursday, May 5th at 7 p.m.
